Radical and Hankook present new racing tires
In January 2027, Radical Motorsport will offer its customers new track tires from Hankook, the Ventus R54, specifically developed for the British race car manufacturer—indicated by the letter R in the name.
The new tires are designed for SR3 and SR10 sports prototypes and, according to Radical, combine enhanced grip on dry surfaces with increased durability and improved ability to maintain performance throughout their service life, while the total weight of the set has been reduced by 4 kg. During development, an extensive testing and engineering program was carried out on race tracks. Compared to the previous-generation model (Ventus C52), the new tire features an improved construction and optimized rubber compound, “enabling enhanced driving characteristics without compromising longevity.”
“These tires have been developed exclusively for racing with Radical cars, and their creation marks a significant milestone in our technical partnership with Hankook,” said James Scott, Head of Technical and After-Sales at Radical Motorsport. “Designed with the specific characteristics of our models in mind, these tires deliver higher grip and more stable performance, while maintaining the level of durability our customers expect.”
Radical and Hankook have been collaborating since 2018, and the automaker states that partnering with leading industry players like the Korean tire manufacturer allows them to leverage expert knowledge to better meet customer needs.
“It is very important for us that we have developed new tires for Radical Motorsport, applying our specialized technologies to fully unlock the potential of their race cars,” said Pyeongmo Yoon, Motorsport Marketing Manager at Hankook.
Next year, Radical will celebrate its 30th anniversary. The company notes that, since vehicle development is not constrained by external technical regulations, they can continuously refine their cars according to drivers’ needs—and the development of new tires is another example of this approach.
