Production of passenger car tires in Russia fell by almost a quarter

In the first quarter of 2026, the production of passenger car tires in Russia decreased by 23.26% compared to the same period in 2025, to 6.66 million units, reports "Kommersant" citing data from CRPT (operator of the "Honest Sign" system). The production of summer tires decreased by 25.7%, to 4.7 million units, winter non-studded tires - by 5.2%, to 537 thousand units, all-season tires - by 16.7%, to 395 thousand units.

The average cost of a passenger car tire, according to CRPT, increased by 3.76% year-over-year and amounted to 7.51 thousand rubles. Compared to the last quarter of last year, prices decreased by 4%.

Experts associate the decline in production with pressure from Chinese imports. Earlier it was reported that in the first quarter, Russian manufacturers reduced sales by 20%, while imports grew by 25%. Passenger car tires are mainly supplied from China.
