Prinx Chengshan recalls over half a million tires

The Chinese company Prinx Chengshan is recalling 541,632 SUV tires in North America under the Fortune and Prinx brands, manufactured at the Chonburi plant (Thailand) from August 24, 2020 to December 7, 2024.

According to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recalled tires have an "Alpine symbol" marking, but do not meet the requirements for winter tires. In Europe, the tires were tested according to the ECE R-117 standard and received the right to the specified marking, however, in North America, the ASTM F1805 standard is used, which differs from the European one. After it became known that the tires may not meet the established requirements, tests were conducted, and the tires were unable to show acceptable results, as a result of which the recall procedure was initiated.

The recall affected Fortune Tormenta R/T FSR309, Fortune Tormenta M/T FSR310, Prinx HiCountry R/T HR1 and Prinx HiCountry M/T HM1 tires in a total of 137 sizes.
