Prinx Chengshan started producing super-large tires
On January 19, Chinese Prinx Chengshan manufactured its first ultra-large OTR tire, size 30.00R51, which the company claims is a significant milestone in developing an eco-friendly and intelligent OTR tire factory and "will fill the gap in the Chinese market for high-quality OTR tires".
The new Chengshan ERD49 tire, with an outer diameter of nearly 3 meters and a weight of 1.8 tons, is specifically designed for mining dump trucks that can carry loads of over 120 tons, while their total weight exceeds 200 tons. The ERD49 features a tread pattern with a wide and deep central groove, increasing traction in harsh operating conditions, while additional grooves in the shoulder areas provide cooling, reducing the risk of blowouts and delamination, and the company notes that this solution improves personnel safety and increases the economic efficiency of using mining equipment.

In recent years, many Chinese companies have begun to actively develop the segment of large-sized special tires, which is related to the modernization of the local mining industry, and Prinx Chengshan responded to the emergence of new market trends last year by starting the construction of a new factory worth over 1.1 billion yuan (140 million dollars), with a capacity of 94 thousand OTR tires, of which 10 thousand will be ultra-large. The products are intended for use in the mining and construction industries, agriculture, ports and airports, industrial enterprises, etc.
Prinx Chengshan "will continue to optimize the range of high-quality products and promote the transformation and modernization of the Chinese tire industry in the OTR segment", the company says.
