Toyo Tires has introduced new all-position commercial tires, the Toyo M156, for urban and regional transportation, which have the SmartWay eco-certification from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and, as the manufacturer notes, are distinguished by increased resistance to uneven wear and fuel efficiency.

The new model replaces the Toyo M154, and a number of key characteristics have been improved, such as mileage, energy efficiency, and retreadability, which will allow customers to reduce their operating costs. The tires have a tread pattern with four ribs, which, in combination with the new patented sidewall design, increases the uniformity of pressure in the contact patch and extends the life of the tires. In addition, special rubber compounds for the undertread, tread, and sidewalls, made using the e-balance technology, reduce rolling resistance, and a high-strength wide breaker belt in combination with a new carcass structure reduces tire deformability, ensuring the stability of its profile and improving economy, handling, and wear resistance in conditions with a high likelihood of rapid wear. Resistance to uneven wear has also been increased due to the shape of the central grooves with beveled walls and stone ejectors, while the channels in the outer zone are equipped with a stabilizing rib, which also improves wear uniformity.

"Toyo, as always, strives to develop commercial tires with increased reliability, which help minimize the costs of our customers," said David Demo, regional manager of the commercial tire division of Toyo in the USA. "The improved characteristics of the M156 tires for urban and regional transportation provide a high tire life and good fuel economy in accordance with the requirements of fleets."

The Toyo M156 will be produced in sizes with diameters of 19.5, 22.5, and 24.5 inches, and sales will start in July 2024.
