Details have emerged about the new winter tires from MOMO
MOMO Tires has revealed details about its new non-studded winter tires, the MOMO North Pole W20 Europa, which officially premiered at The Tire Cologne 2024 exhibition held in Cologne in early June.
According to Pneus News, the word Europa in the name hints that the tires will be produced in Europe, and "the persisting socio-political instability in the world essentially prompted the Italian company to relocate tire production closer to its logistics hub".
The MOMO North Pole W20 Europa features a symmetrical directional tread pattern designed to ensure high traction in various winter conditions and improve controllability on snow. It is reported that the V-shaped design creates continuous traction edges from one shoulder to the other, increasing the tire's efficiency on snowy roads, while the beveled block walls accelerate water drainage, reducing the risk of aquaplaning. Additionally, zigzag 3D lamellae reduce the braking distance on both snow and wet surfaces, as well as on dry asphalt, and the rubber compound retains its elasticity at low temperatures, providing a stable level of traction.
The tires were tested by experts from the IDIADA testing center, who noted that MOMO has "excellent acceleration and braking performance on snow, as well as braking on wet asphalt", and also that the tires have low rolling resistance and will help increase fuel efficiency.
Initially, the tires are available in 78 sizes with a rim diameter ranging from 14 to 22 inches, with more than 50 sizes having a diameter of 17 inches or larger, in line with current trends on the European market.
