Photos have appeared from the shooting of the new Pirelli calendar
The Pirelli calendar for 2026, authored by Norwegian Sølve Sundsbø, will be presented at an official presentation scheduled for November, and meanwhile, footage from the shooting of the new edition has appeared on the web, in which the photographer, according to him, sought to create a "visually unexpected world that embodies poetry, sensuality and an aura of mystery".
The shooting involved actresses Louisa Ranieri, Isabella Rossellini, Adria Arjona, Gwendoline Christie and Tilda Swinton, fashion designer Susie Cave, top models Eva Herzigova, Du Juan and Irina Shayk, singer FKA Twigs and tennis player Venus Williams.
According to Sundsbø, he was very excited to be included in the privileged list of photographers who worked on the Pirelli calendar, first introduced in 1964. "I was in the kitchen with my wife when I received a call and was politely asked if I would like to consider this project. The situation is usual, but not the question," he said, adding that "this calendar is unique because it brings together outstanding photographers and outstanding photographs over such a long period of time".
About his version of the calendar, the photographer says that "I wanted to capture the emotions, instincts and states of the soul that have always been at the heart of human life: the desire for freedom, the thirst for knowledge, the feeling of mystery, imagination, passion, the desire for empowerment, connection with nature and our relationship with time and space". He explains the choice of models as "pure instinct". "I decided to choose women who can convey emotions. Those who could give depth to the narrative," Sundsbø noted.
