Near Tver, a military-era aircraft tire was found

The exhibition of the Museum of the History of the Yaroslavl Tire Plant has been added with an aircraft tire manufactured at the enterprise in 1942. A well-preserved tire was found near his country house near the city of Toropets, Tver Region, by Moscow resident Sergei Goryaynov, as reported by the press service of the Cordiant holding, which includes the Yaroslavl Tire Plant.

Plant specialists believe that the find is connected with one of the military airfields located near Toropets at the beginning of the war, and the preserved remains of markings on the sidewall indicate that the tire was made in Yaroslavl.

According to the company's experts, the tire could have been intended, in particular, for the I-16 (Ishak) aircraft type, a fast and light fighter that was in service with the Soviet army. I-16s were actively used at the beginning of the war, and among their pilots were the first Heroes of the Soviet Union, including Mikhail Zhukov, who previously worked as an electrician at the Yaroslavl Tire Plant.

"It is symbolic that the unique find has replenished the repository of the History Museum of the Yaroslavl Tire Plant in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and has become another exhibit confirming the labor feat of the workers and engineers," said Valery Nikolaev, director of the plant.

In memory of the home front workers and plant employees who died in the war, a monument has been erected on the territory of the enterprise, where festive events are held every year.
