Pirelli introduces the new Scorpion XTM tire to the North American market, designed with the specific needs of electric and hybrid pickups and SUVs, such as the Ford F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T, Chevrolet Silverado EV, and others, and also available in a version for vehicles with internal combustion engines.

«The Scorpion line has become iconic for Pirelli, especially in the SUV tire segment, where it has earned a high reputation for balancing efficiency and comfort, — the company notes. — With the release of the XTM, we are taking this legacy to the next level, and the new tire boasts outstanding off-road capabilities, as it is specifically designed for operation on any type of surface».

The United States leads in electric pickup sales, and tire manufacturers are responding to new trends. Earlier, Toyo introduced tires for the new segment (Open Country A/T III EV), and the new Pirelli in the EV version is made using the company's proprietary Elect technology, which means, for example, that they have reduced rolling resistance, increasing the range of electric vehicles. The noise level has also been reduced, and the company emphasizes that currently, seven out of ten premium and luxury electric vehicle manufacturers purchase Pirelli tires adapted to the characteristics of this type of vehicle.

The new Pirelli tires have an aggressive tread pattern with large voids, improving traction on dirt, mud, and gravel surfaces, while the design of the sidewalls and the reinforced construction of the shoulders have been redesigned to reduce the likelihood of damage. This, according to Pirelli, ensures a balance between off-road capability and high durability, and the warranty mileage is 89,000 km, which «reflects the company's commitment to following high standards and requirements of North American consumers». The Scorpion XTM also has a 3PMSF (three-peak mountain snowflake) marking, which means that the tires have proven their effectiveness on snow.

Pirelli does not specify the size range of the new tire, but notes that all popular sizes (P-metric and LT) will be available in the target segment.
