Pirelli has prepared special tyres for the 71st Macau Grand Prix

Pirelli will provide special tires for the Macau Grand Prix auto racing event, which takes place this week. As the 71st Grand Prix coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Macau Special Administrative Region and the 75th anniversary of the founding of the PRC, tires with stylized dragon images have been made for GT3 class cars, referencing both local traditions and the fact that the current year is the year of this mythical creature in the Chinese calendar. The dragon is also depicted on the Pole Position Award, which will be presented to the winner of Saturday's qualifying session.

As in previous years, Pirelli will equip all GT3 category cars with tires during the Grand Prix, but the tire manufacturer's participation does not end there, and 40 engineers, mechanics, and other company specialists will also be working in Macau.

In total, Pirelli tires will be fitted to 120 cars in four national and international series, and 23 crews in the GT World Cup will use P Zero tires for dry pavement and Cinturato WSB for wet weather. The same tires will also be available to 27 GT4 class cars in the Greater Bay Area GT Cup and more than 50 Toyota cars in the local series. Additionally, the FR World Cup participants will take to the Macau street circuit for the first time, with P Zero DMB slicks or Cinturato WSA wet tires being fitted to 27 single-seater bolides.

"The intense 2024 season, filled with events, is coming to an end, and for us, participating in the Macau Grand Prix always has special significance from both a technical and organizational point of view," noted Matteo Braga, manager of Pirelli's motorsport department. "The upcoming races will be challenging and interesting due to the nature of the winding track with many sharp turns, and a good qualifying result will be crucial in all categories, and it will be very important to maximize tire performance, especially in the esses and other turns."
