The KGM Musso pickup has been fitted with Nexen tires

Korean KGM Mobility (formerly known as SsangYong) has approved two Nexen tire models for the recently introduced Musso pickup: 17-inch Roadian HTX RH5 and N’Priz RH7 with diameters of 18 and 20 inches.

As noted by Nexen, the new pickup is designed for both heavy cargo transportation and off-road use, which is why the company will supply tires designed to provide high traction in various conditions and capable of withstanding multiple loads of up to 700 kg.

The agreement with KGM is part of Nexen's strategy to expand tire supplies for SUVs and pickups, including large-sized ones, and the company currently supplies, for example, Kia Tasman, as well as Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator, while on the secondary market, various tire models are offered for vehicles of this type, such as the Roadian HTX highway tire and the Roadian ATX all-terrain tire.

Roadian HTX tires are part of the standard Musso equipment and are focused on use on asphalt, but are also suitable for light off-road use, and the manufacturer emphasizes that the tires also have improved ride comfort. The tread design with increased width and the construction of the sidewalls have been optimized to reduce heat generation and increase the resource, while the relief blocks and zigzag lamellas, as reported, allow the tires to work effectively in Korean road and climatic conditions.

In turn, N’Priz RH7 is approved for top-end Musso versions and has a tread pattern with wide straight drainage grooves that should provide quick water drainage from the contact patch and reduce the risk of aquaplaning. In addition, the upgraded block design, as claimed by Nexen, improves stability, and a balance has also been achieved between safety, acoustic comfort, and fuel efficiency. Previously, the tires were also homologated for the Rexton Sports and Rexton Sports Khan pickups from KGM.

The company adds that in the case of such multifunctional vehicles as Musso, tires play a very important role, and report that "we will continue to develop cooperation with pickup and SUV manufacturers and supply them with tires adapted to the characteristics of vehicles in these categories".
