Recycled tires have become raw materials for the production of dyes

American Avient Corporation has started selling OnColor REC polymer dyes, which use recovered technical carbon, obtained from recycled materials, including worn-out tires, as a pigment.

According to the company, the use of recovered technical carbon instead of traditional carbon reduces energy and water consumption, as well as carbon dioxide emissions, while consumers, such as car manufacturers, can reduce their carbon footprint.

Standard colors and shades, created to individual orders, are available, and the dyes meet the requirements for toxic substance content according to REACH and RoHS standards, and have been certified by the independent organization TÜV Rheinland.

According to Felipe Reichert, Marketing Director of the Colorants, Additives and Inks division of Avient, the new product was developed in response to the growing demand for eco-friendly solutions from customers.

The new dyes are available in the US and Canada and can be used by manufacturers of a wide range of products, including auto components, cables, household appliances, electronics, textiles, office furniture, etc.
