Differences between "Comfort" and "Sport" classes

When buying summer tires, many people do not distinguish between similar classes such as "comfort" and "sport". The names do not fundamentally carry elements of distinction. But although they may look extremely similar and belong to the same brands, they differ in characteristics.

The magazine Vi Bilägare compared tires of the Goodyear brand of different classes. Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 of the sports segment and Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance 2, which belongs to comfort.
At first glance, the "sport" segment is better, especially on dry pavement.

Braking on wet asphalt (80 km/h):
Comfort - 34.6m
Sport - 31.4m

Handling on wet asphalt (lap time):
Comfort - 70.4s
Sport - 68.9s

Braking on dry asphalt (100 km/h):
Comfort - 34.8m
Sport - 33.3m

Handling on dry asphalt (lap time):
Comfort - 100.3s
Sport - 99.5s

Then what is the advantage of the so-called premium segment?
According to the estimates of the pilots testing the tires, the "comfort" class is more comfortable and has better smoothness of ride. At the same time, sports tires are better handled due to their greater stiffness. It is also worth noting that the resource of sports tires is 15% lower.
