Review of Summer Tires Formula Rosso
Pirelli is one of the major foreign tire manufacturers that have not left Russia, and the company continues to release new models to the domestic market under its main premium brand, as well as under the Formula second-tier brand, whose lineup in the 2026 season was supplemented with summer tires called Formula Rosso, designed for both passenger cars and crossovers.
As is often the case with tires from second-line brands, the tread pattern was taken from a model in the senior brand's lineup, and this time the design was inherited from the Pirelli Cinturato Rosso tires, presented on the Asian market in 2022. In terms of positioning, the Formula Rosso belongs to the "touring" category, meaning that the developers paid special attention to increasing the level of comfort, including acoustic comfort, which makes the tires optimally suitable for both everyday life and long-distance travel.
The tires have an asymmetrical pattern, the most notable element of which is a scaly edge in the central zone — the same one that was used in the sports tires Pirelli P Zero Rosso Asimmetrico, which were considered the most comfortable Pirelli tires in the UHP class, so this solution seems to have proven its effectiveness. According to the company, the edge consists of optimized blocks of different stiffness, and its purpose is to reduce the noise level.
The central ribs feature through grooves that facilitate smoother transmission of forces, resulting in improved ride smoothness and handling.
Longitudinal channels, including a wavy one, are responsible for safety in complex weather conditions, which, in combination with transverse grooves of variable depth, drain water from the contact patch, reducing the risk of aquaplaning.
The tires also feature shoulder areas with an optimized profile, which increases the contact area under load, reducing the braking distance, as well as providing an even distribution of pressure, which has a positive effect on both braking efficiency and handling characteristics.
Formula Rosso tires are available in 30 sizes, ranging from 205/50 R17 to 265/45 R21, and the target audience includes owners of vehicles such as the Volkswagen Tiguan, Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Haval Jolion.
