New record on Michelin tires

Porsche test driver Lars Kern set a new Nurburgring record for luxury vehicles with combustion engines and hybrid powertrains at the wheel of a pre-series version of the updated Panamera fastback, with a time of 7 minutes 24.17 seconds.

Compared to the previous generation Panamera, the time was improved by 5.64 seconds, and Kern noted that the new record was helped, among other things, by the new Michelin Ultra-High Performance (UHP) class tires.

For the Panamera, specially designed Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires are supplied (in sizes 275/35 ZR21 for the front and 325/30 ZR21 for the rear axle), which are designed for use on both public roads and racing tracks. The tires are also made from a special rubber compound with increased wear resistance, which increases their lifespan, including during intensive use.
