New Sumitomo Plant in China

30 august 2012
The company Sumitomo Rubber Industries is going to increase the production of tires under the Dunlop brand in China. In Changsha (Hunan province), where the first Sumitomo plant in China is located, the construction of another modern plant has begun. It is reported that $300 million has already been invested in it.

The future enterprise will produce high-end car tires. It is planned that by the end of this year, the new branch of the Japanese company will reach a production level of 10.5 million tires.

This will be the largest tire plant in China. The company plans to expand production in order to meet the needs of foreign and Chinese customers.

Recall that Sumitomo Rubber Industries is Japan's largest tire manufacturer. In 1997, the company merged with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and became a co-owner of Dunlop Tyres. Sumitomo owns 25% of Dunlop's shares.
