New eco-tires from Pirelli

09 july 2012
At the Reifen-2012 exhibition in Essen, Pirelli, following Goodyear, presented a new model of an economical tire, the Cinturato P7 Blue. Recall that earlier, Goodyear representatives stated that their company had developed tires with AA ratings for such parameters as rolling resistance and wet grip. This Pirelli novelty can also receive the highest ratings under the new EU labeling system.

Its strongest side is the grip on a wet surface. Additionally, this tire has low rolling resistance and, as a result, low fuel consumption, as well as a short braking distance and an extended service life.

This tire became the successor to the Pirelli Cinturato P7, which was presented three years ago. In all parameters, this tire surpasses its predecessor. During its production, as noted by the company's specialists, the same technologies and mathematical modeling methods were used as for the rain tires for Formula 1.

Pirelli's Chief Technical Officer, Maurizio Boiocchi, spoke about the advantages and disadvantages of the new European labeling system. According to him, it gives car owners the opportunity to learn about three important parameters - noise level, rolling resistance, and wet braking. However, Boiocchi notes that three characteristics are not enough to get a complete picture, so when choosing a car tire, you should consider other parameters and rely on expert recommendations.

The novelty is already available for sale.
