The Czech brand Barum (owned by Continental) has added a new winter tire, the Barum Polaris 6, to its range, designed for regions with mild climates and replacing the Barum Polaris 5, which premiered in 2018.

Like its predecessor, the new tire features a directional V-shaped tread pattern designed to improve handling on snowy roads, and one of the differences is the addition of "Snaqua" (Snow+Aqua) pockets, which hold water and snow, optimizing stability and control in challenging conditions. Additionally, a special rubber compound reduces fuel consumption, while the tread design has been optimized to extend the life of the tires. The sidewalls feature special markings indicating that the tires are adapted for use on both gasoline-powered vehicles and electric cars.

Compared to the previous generation tires, the new Barum Polaris 6 has increased durability and snow traction, and noise levels have been reduced by 3%.

The Barum Polaris 6 is available in 25 sizes, ranging from 185/65 R15 to 235/50 R19, and the range will also include sizes with 14- and 20-inch diameters. In the EU labeling system, the tires have received "B-D" for fuel efficiency, "C" for wet grip, and "B" for noise level. Some sizes of the Polaris 6 will be suitable for use at speeds up to 270 km/h.
