Nokian updates its range of commercial tires
Nokian Tyres has introduced two new commercial tires: the summer Nokian Cargoproof C and the all-season Nokian Seasonproof C1, both designed for the Central European market. For the winter season in the region, the Nokian Snowproof C model, released in 2021, is offered.
According to the manufacturer, the new tires are versatile and suitable for both delivering goods on narrow city streets and for use on rough roads with potholes, and are optimized to withstand increased loads during the transportation of heavy goods.
The summer Cargoproof C tires, which "provide balanced handling and excellent drivability," are made using a new rubber compound, Cargo Hybrid, which improves traction on wet roads, while the wide Hydro Canyon channels reduce the risk of aquaplaning. Additionally, the sidewalls are reinforced with aramid fibers (Aramid Strong Sidewalls technology), which increase resistance to impacts and cuts, and the tire's durability is also guaranteed by the optimized construction and compound, made using the latest rubber-mixing technologies. Nokian adds that the new tire also provides a high level of comfort, including reduced noise, while the reduced rolling resistance improves fuel efficiency and reduces carbon dioxide emissions.
In turn, the Nokian Seasonproof C1 is designed for use on both dry and wet asphalt in the summer and on snow and slush in warm winter conditions. The tires have a directional multifunctional tread pattern with a rigid central section, designed to provide optimal handling and comfort in various weather conditions, while the new "all-season" compound has improved performance on wet roads, while also increasing wear resistance and fuel efficiency. All Seasonproof C1 sizes have received the 3PMSF marking, meaning they are officially approved for use on snowy surfaces, and in most sizes, the new tire has also earned an "A" rating for wet grip according to the EU labeling system.
After selling its plant in Russia, Nokian is cooperating with Asian manufacturers to compensate for the capacity shortage, and the Seasonproof C1 model, judging by the DOT code on the sidewalls (1MM), is produced by the Kenda plant located in Tianjin, China.
Nokian Seasonproof C1 tires have been available since November 2024, and Cargoproof C tires will be released in February 2025. The updated Nokian commercial tire range for Central Europe includes sizes with diameters from 15 to 17 inches and speed indices R (170 km/h), S (180 km/h), T (190 km/h), and H (210 km/h).
