Nokian is the leader in the Russian tire market

Recently, the results of the first half of the year were summarized in terms of revenue from the sale of automobile tires on the Russian market. The share of the Finnish company Nokian Tyres was 15% of the total volume. There were no equals to this firm.

The analytical report was prepared by specialists of the company "Cordiant". According to their forecasts, by the end of the current year, the sales volume in Russia may become record-breaking. Currently, the maximum figure was recorded last year and amounted to 55.5 million units. This year, it is likely to grow to 57 million.

The greatest growth in sales fell on segment A, but at the same time, surprisingly, the sales volumes of "budget" tires also increased. According to the general director of "Cordiant" Dmitry Sokov, this is due to the decline of the tire market. Manufacturers, in order not to let production capacities stand idle, are forced to sell exported products at a price not much higher than the cost price.

As for statistical data, as already mentioned, the Finnish company Nokian Tyres was the leader with a share of 15% (19.6 billion rubles). This is their first such success. The second place with indicators of 13% and 17.6 billion rubles in monetary terms was shared between "Cordiant" and "Nizhnekamskshina". Michelin took third place with 10%.

As experts note, the leadership of Nokian Tyres in the Russian tire market is due to the growth of production capacity in Vsevolozhsk. Over six years - from 2005 to 2011 - the company's branch in Russia increased its indicators from 1 to 11 million tires per year.

However, some experts believe that the main reason is the relatively stable economic situation in the country. But the general director of Nokian Tyres in Russia believes that the main guarantee of success is an effective distribution system, modern production, and an optimal product line.
