Nokian announced the release of new all-season tires
Nokian Tyres has announced the release of new all-season tires Nokian Seasonproof 2, designed for the markets of Central and Southern Europe. The novelty will be available from autumn 2025 in sizes for both passenger cars and crossovers and SUVs, and thanks to the snowflake marking (3PMSF), it can be operated in winter in regions where seasonal tire change is mandatory.
In the production of Seasonproof 2, up to 38% of environmentally friendly materials will be used - recycled, renewable, and certified to the ISSC Plus standard - and this is a record figure for the company. The list of eco-materials includes, for example, resin and silica from renewable sources, as well as recycled technical carbon and steel, which will be used in the production of the entire line and, as Nokian says, will improve the driving qualities of the tire.

"Thanks to the use of renewable raw materials, we were able to improve the efficiency of the tires, while reducing rolling resistance, - noted Teemu Soini, Vice President of Innovation and Development at Nokian. - We are striving to find an alternative to traditional materials based on fossil fuels and, together with various partners, continue to explore various innovative options."
Seasonproof 2 will be the first tire to be mass-produced at the new plant in Oradea (Romania), which has an International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) Plus certificate, which should guarantee that the raw materials are obtained in a responsible manner and can be tracked to the place of their production. Thanks to this, tires can be manufactured using materials with ISCC Plus certification.
The Oradea plant is considered the world's first full-scale tire production with zero carbon dioxide emissions. The plant was opened in September 2024 and will start supplying products in the spring of 2025.

"The release of a tire containing up to 38% of renewable, recycled, and ISCC Plus certified materials will be the result of long-term work, - emphasized Soini. - Earlier, for example, we presented the Nokian Tyres Green Step concept tire, which is 93% made from recycled and renewable raw materials, and also demonstrated the possibility of using a new innovative material, showing the Nokian Tyres Green Step Ligna concept tire."
Like Seasonproof 1, the new tire has a directional tread pattern with wide grooves that accelerate the removal of water and slush from the contact patch, while the lamellas in the tread blocks increase traction on snow. In addition, in sizes from 17 inches, the tires will have sidewalls reinforced with aramid fibers (Aramid Sidewalls technology), which increase puncture resistance, and the rim protection has been improved to prevent wheel damage.

The independent organization TÜV SÜD conducted tests of the new tires, comparing them with Bridgestone Turanza All Season 6, Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3, Michelin CrossClimate 2 and Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF 3, and the tests showed that the results of Seasonproof 2 exceed the average performance of competitors in a number of key parameters. As a result of the tests, the tire was awarded the TÜV SÜD Quality Mark.

In addition, the tires will have the Electric Fit marking, which indicates that they have been adapted for use on electric cars.

The new symbol will be received by tires in all 57 planned sizes: from 175/65 R15 to 255/45 R20.
