New Nokian Tires 2009
04 december 2009
Nokian Tyres, best known for its winter tires, introduces new all-season Nokian eNTyre.
The new premium-class tires were unveiled at a special meeting of company representatives with dealers and journalists as part of the SEMA international exhibition in Las Vegas, and this premiere was a direct consequence of a request from Nokian dealers.
"We had two main reasons to release this tire," said Bernie Del Duca, President of Nokian Tyres Inc. - "Firstly, our dealers have been asking us for this for several years, and secondly, we want our consumers who like Nokian winter tires to be able to use our products in the summer as well."
The new Nokian eNTyre with an asymmetric tread pattern has several elements from winter tires, such as three-dimensional lamellas, "polished" grooves, and five longitudinal grooves to prevent aquaplaning. In addition, the tires have ultra-low rolling resistance, and the new rubber compound was developed specifically to provide traction throughout the year, and also provides an extended service life.
Nokian also notes that these are more environmentally friendly tires, as they do not use high-aromatic oils in their production, and the production methods have been modernized to reduce the damage caused to the environment.
The tires will be available in the 1st quarter of 2010 in 26 sizes with T, H, and V speed indices for 15-17 inch rims. Tires with a rim diameter of 15-16 inches have a 700AA UTQG rating, and 17-inch tires have a 560AA rating.
