A new CEO of Nexen has been named
Nexen Tire has announced that it is undergoing personnel restructuring, with 11 top managers taking on new positions, who are "next-generation leaders who have achieved high results in key business areas such as sales, production, and research and development".
As part of the restructuring, Kim Hyun Suk has been appointed as the new CEO of Nexen, who has been working in the tire manufacturer since 1990 and previously held various leadership positions in the sales department, "contributing to the development of Nexen Tire as a global company".
Nexen notes that during his tenure, Kim, in particular, headed the company's sales department in Europe, and under his leadership, the brand's recognition was increased and revenue indicators were improved, as a result of which he was awarded several awards.
Since 2021, Kim has been responsible for cooperation with automakers and has successfully increased the supply of Nexen tires for equipping premium-class vehicles. Currently, Nexen equips 118 models of leading global automotive brands such as Porsche, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
"The new appointments are seen by us as a new stage in the process of increasing the company's competitiveness in the global market and improving its ability to quickly respond to rapidly changing conditions in the industry," say in Nexen, adding that "the personnel restructuring will allow Nexen Tire to take a step forward, and under the leadership of the new CEO, who will manage the globalization of the business, the company will be able to achieve sustainable growth in key regions, including North America".
In contrast to Hankook and Kumho, two other leading Korean tire manufacturers, Nexen does not yet have its own plant in the US. In 2023, it was announced that the company intends to invest 1.3 billion euros in localizing production in the country, and this will likely be one of the tasks for the new CEO.
