The construction of the Long March plant in Egypt has begun

On June 17, the Chinese company Chaoyang Long March Tyre held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new tire factory worth around 160 million euros in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) in Egypt.

The enterprise, named Long March Tyre (Egypt) Co., Ltd., will be located in the city of Ain Sokhna and will initially produce 600,000 truck and bus tires per year. In the second stage, the production of truck and bus tires will increase to 1 million units, and the production of passenger car tires with a capacity of 4.5 million units per year will also be organized.

The products are planned to be sold domestically "with the possibility of export to regional and international markets".

Speaking at the event, the chairman of the board of Long March, Jin Yongsheng, noted that the SCZone was chosen due to its attractive investment environment, and added that the project is a strategic stage in the company's expansion, which will use Egypt's favorable geographical location.

Currently, Long March, founded in 2003, has a plant in Chaoyang (Liaoning, China), and a joint venture for tire production has also been established in Pakistan. At the moment, the Pakistani plant manufactures truck and bus tires, and not so long ago, plans were announced to launch the production of tires for passenger cars.
