The ban on studded tires has come into effect
On June 1, Russia once again began enforcing a ban on the use of studded winter tires, which will remain in effect until August 31. The rule is outlined in the list of malfunctions for which the operation of a vehicle is prohibited, and the requirements for seasonal tire use first came into effect in 2023.
During the summer period, a fine of 500 rubles or a warning is provided for studded tires, while the use of friction winter tires is allowed.
The ban was introduced, among other things, because studded tires are the cause of increased road wear, and in 2015, Rosavtodor estimated the damage to the economy from the use of this type of tire at 220 billion rubles annually.
