On the summer tires Platin, the M+S marking was found

For the new summer season, the German trading company Interpneu (part of Pneuhage) is bringing three new summer tires to the market under its private brand Platin, and, as Reifenpresse writes, the first photos of the novelties show the M+S (Mud+Snow) marking, although they are clearly not suitable for either mud or snow.

This same marking was on tires produced by the Chinese Shandong Yongsheng Rubber during the AutoZum exhibition in Salzburg, Austria, and other events, and not so long ago, Pneuhage reported that the serial tires that will go on sale will not have the M+S inscription on the sidewalls. The company did not specify what the appearance of the marking was initially related to.

Previously, questions had already arisen regarding tires with the M+S marking, since no additional tests are required to obtain it. For this reason, experts recommend focusing on the snowflake symbol (3PMSF), which is only applied to tires that have passed special tests and confirmed that they can provide a high level of safety on snow. At the same time, if we talk about the Chinese industry, the M+S marking can be found on tires that are absolutely not suitable for winter conditions.

The M+S marking appeared in the 1970s to help drivers choose tires that can be used in mud and snow. Tires with this designation have at least 25% voids in the tread and transverse grooves in the shoulder areas, which actually improves performance in difficult conditions, but since no tests are conducted according to certain standards, it cannot be guaranteed that the tires will be able to provide acceptable safety during the winter period.
