In Altai, software is being created for the development of aircraft tires
Altai Technical University (AltSTU) and Altai Tire Plant (ATP) are developing software that allows for the complete design of aircraft tires in a digital environment, according to "Tolk".
The project will be implemented in seven stages, and the first one has already been completed - software for building a tire contour has been created, which is already being used, and if earlier it took up to four days to complete the task, now it takes up to five minutes. The most difficult part, as reported, will be modeling to calculate the load on the tire, since it is a matter of safety, and ultimately, the new development should allow for the complete automation of the aircraft tire design process.
"We reduce the mathematical burden on the design engineer, eliminate the possibility of human error, increase modeling capabilities, accelerate the process from the idea stage to the model, and also minimize the number of necessary full-scale tests," said Anastasia Zryumova, head of the information technology department of the university.
"The task is very ambitious, because there are no analogues of such software," said Andrei Markov, rector of AltSTU, and Vladimir Balabanov, general director of ATP, added that "without the introduction of its own developments, without investments in technologies, the enterprise will not be able to develop and remain modern. Especially since now the Russian aviation industry is facing ambitious tasks related to both domestic production and import substitution."
In the fall of 2025, ATP received certificates of conformity for tires for the landing gear of the MS-21 aircraft, and now flight tests are pending, after which the enterprise will be able to produce tires of this type in series if there are orders.
In the future, AltSTU and ATP plan to jointly create a Center for Engineering Developments, which, as Markov said, will be a network of laboratories and design bureaus that will develop software of a wider purpose.
