Michelin is preparing for a trip to the Moon

One giant leap for Michelin.

French tire manufacturer has taken on the task of developing an airless tire for the future lunar transportation vehicle (LTV). The company is working on this project in collaboration with a team formed by Northrop Grumman as part of a tender conducted by NASA in November last year.

The goal of Michelin's research groups is to create a tire that can withstand the extreme conditions on the lunar pole, to explore the lunar surface and ensure a sustainable presence on the Moon by 2025, and in the future, on Mars.
