Avery Dennison Maxdura Tire Tag selected by Bridgestone Japan for GT racing

Japanese company Bridgestone has chosen the AD Maxdura Tire Tag label from Avery Dennison for use on tires installed on cars participating in the Gran Turismo (GT) championship.

The tire label will provide racing teams with a huge amount of new data, allowing for better tuning of the tires before and during the races and improving the overall performance of the car. Each label allows for the identification of each specific tire, giving teams and race organizers the ability to determine which tires are being used. Additionally, the automated process allows teams participating in the championship to optimize logistics and inventory in real-time.

From an environmental sustainability perspective, RFID labels will enable teams to take a more thoughtful approach to reusing or recycling tire products. The use of labels in GT racing comes at a time when the FIA is urging teams across the motorsport sector to use tires equipped with RFID transponders for economic and environmental reasons.
