Best Tires of 2012
30 august 2012
Not so long ago, during the annual tire festival in China, organized by Motor Trend magazine and the China Automobile Manufacturers Association, tests were conducted and the best car tires were selected in several categories.
In the "Best Value" category, the Bridgestone Turanza T001 tire came out on top, which, according to experts, attempted to combine sportiness, comfortable driving, and at the same time, economy and environmental friendliness.
The Nexen CP672 was recognized as the most comfortable tire. The Nexen company, in the production of this tire, focused on comfort. Despite the fact that in some parameters they are inferior to competitors, in terms of comfort, this tire has no equal.
In the third category, "Most Environmentally Friendly", there were two nominees - Pirelli Cinturato P1 and Dunlop Enasave EC503. The first tire won the prize for low rolling resistance in the High-Performance category, size 235/40R18, and the second - among conventional tires, size 205/55R16.
The jury members also paid attention to speed. In the "Most Dynamic" category, the product from Kumho - Ecsta LE Sport KU39 - predictably came out on top. The fact is that when producing tires, Kumho companies use technologies used in the creation of aircraft tires. As a result, high-quality tires for sports cars are obtained, which can withstand the highest speeds.
The Continental ContiSportConact 5P tire was recognized as the safest. Despite the fact that the tire is sporty, it stands out for its most stable behavior on the track among all the tested tires. Another pleasant surprise was the short braking distance.
The Hankook Ventus S1 evo K107 won the award for the best handling. This tire turned out to be the only one whose result exceeded 100 km/h in handling tests. Even at the limit of adhesion, this tire was obedient on the road, which caused the experts complete delight.
The Goodyear EfficientGrip SUV was recognized as the best tire for crossovers. It bribed the jury members with the fact that it is a tire for "urban crossovers", that is, equally comfortable and environmentally friendly on any surface.
And the best tire of 2012 was recognized as the Yokohama BluEarth AE-01. The jury's verdict states that this is a tire for those who care about ecology. In addition to this aspect, these tires were among the top three in all the tests conducted. Therefore, they deservedly took the first place.
At the festival, in addition to summing up the results, a number of issues were also discussed. In particular, reducing carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere.
