Linglong may open a plant in Kenya
Kenyan President William Ruto held a meeting in Nairobi with the chairman of the Chinese company Shandong Linglong Wang Feng regarding the possible construction of a tire plant in the country to serve the African market.
During the meeting, Ruto noted that the Kenyan government continues to work on making Kenya a regional hub for attracting foreign investment, for which "a number of attractive incentives are being offered to boost investor confidence".
Linglong currently owns five tire factories in China, as well as one in Thailand and one in Serbia, and the company has previously confirmed plans to open another facility outside of China, with Mexico being one of the possible options.
Kenyan media outlets note that Ruto is seeking to attract foreign investors to increase the country's GDP. In September 2024, he spoke at the US-Kenya Business and Investment Roundtable organized by the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA), where he urged investors to "take advantage of the well-educated workforce, as well as the abundant renewable energy sources" available in the country to develop their activities.
