Lamborghini Temerario is "shod" in Bridgestone tires
Lamborghini has chosen Bridgestone as its official technical partner and exclusive tire supplier for the new supercar Temerario, which was unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance (USA).
"Following the Lamborghini Huracán STO, Tecnica, Sterrato, Huracán Evo, and Revuelto, the new Temerario will be another Lamborghini super sports car to be equipped with specially developed Bridgestone tires," said Steven De Bock, Vice President of Bridgestone's Original Equipment business in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, and Africa). "The new model features a powertrain consisting of a V8 with two turbochargers and three electric motors, making it part of a new generation of hybrids with outstanding performance, and we as Lamborghini's official technical partner are delighted to continue our collaboration, contributing to the electrification of the industry and the development of eco-friendly motorsports."
For the Temerario, new versions of Bridgestone's legendary Potenza tires have been prepared, which were refined using the company's extensive experience in motorsports. Specifically, the Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires are designed for the summer season, with a tread pattern optimized for improved handling on dry and wet roads, as well as optimal control at high speeds. A Run-Flat construction option will be available, allowing for safe continued driving at speeds of up to 80 km/h for a distance of up to 80 km in the event of a puncture.
For those who want to unleash the full potential of the new supercar on a racing track, Bridgestone Potenza Race tires will be offered. The Temerario features the world's only production engine capable of reaching 10,000 rpm, so engineers worked to ensure the tires provide high grip and have a long lifespan even under extreme loads. To achieve this, a new rubber compound is used, initially developed for racing but integrated into the production of road tires.
Finally, for the winter season, Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 tires are provided, which have repeatedly won independent tests and have been optimized to ensure a high level of safety during the cold season.
"The Temerario is a new benchmark in the supercar class, and Bridgestone has become the ideal partner for us to fully unleash the potential of our new car," said Christian Mastro, Lamborghini's Marketing Director. "Over the years, we have built a wonderful relationship that has helped us push the boundaries of what is possible time and time again. Now, as we embark on the path of electrification, our collaboration will be even closer."
All tires for the Temerario were developed at Bridgestone's research center in Italy using the Virtual Tyre Development (VTD) technology, which increases the efficiency and environmental friendliness of the tire development process. In particular, the creation of one tire eliminates the need for physical production of around 200 prototypes, reduces the number of real-world tests by 80%, and cuts project implementation time by 50%. Additionally, the reduction in CO2 emissions during the development of OE tires can be up to 60%.
The Lamborghini Temerario is expected to go on sale next year, and Bridgestone tires will be produced in Europe and offered in eight sizes with diameters of 20 and 21 inches.
