Kumho will equip Kia EV2 with tires

The company Kumho Tire will supply tires for the Kia EV2, a compact electric crossover, which is scheduled for release early next year, reports The Guru.

According to sources from the publication, the EV2 will be equipped with Kumho Ecsta PS71 EV tires, which belong to the UHP category, meaning they have been improved for better stability and handling at high speeds, but also have reduced rolling resistance, which increases the range between charges.

Kumho Ecsta PS71 EV tires are also optimized to withstand the increased loads that come with operating heavy electric vehicles with increased torque, and have the corresponding load capacity. In addition, the tread pattern has been modified to reduce noise, and the sound-absorbing foam layer inside the tire also improves the level of acoustic comfort.

Kumho has long been cooperating with Hyundai (which includes Kia) and supplies tires, for example, for the Hyundai Ioniq 6 and Kona Electric, Kia EV6 and EV9. In addition, the company's partners include leading global automotive brands such as Porsche, BMW, and Stellantis, and the Ecsta PS71 EV tire received the iF Design Award in 2024.
