Kumho and BYD develop partnership
Company Kumho Tire announced that it has become a supplier of tires for the factory equipment of the Song Plus DM-i and Song L DM-i crossovers and continues to work on expanding its presence in the OE segment.
For BYD, Kumho Solus HS63 tires are supplied, which, according to the company, are distinguished by an increased level of comfort and an overall improved balance of characteristics. In regions with a warm climate, the tires are positioned as all-season, and the tread pattern with large blocks and diagonal grooves is designed to reduce noise and improve traction and handling in various weather conditions. In addition, high-strength lightweight materials are used in production, which, in combination with an optimized rubber compound, have reduced rolling resistance, making the tires more durable. Earlier, the Solus HS63 received the ApexTire2023 award in China as the quietest and most comfortable tire for crossovers and SUVs.

In the first half of 2024, BYD's total sales were 1.6 million vehicles, and the company is one of the largest Chinese automakers. At the same time, in the segment of vehicles using new energy sources, BYD was the leader of the global market in the first quarter of this year with sales of 624,000 vehicles and a market share of 19.4%.
Kumho in 2024 presented new tires Kumho EnnoV Sport in China, designed specifically for electric vehicles and hybrids, and made using the K-Silent technology (a layer of sound-absorbing material is placed inside the tire), as well as received the HL (High Load) marking, indicating increased load capacity. As noted in Kumho, the tires "improve the driving experience and will help the company increase its market share".
Not so long ago, Kumho published its financial report for the second quarter of 2024 and reported that it had increased its turnover and operating profit by 12.7 and 72%, respectively. The operating margin exceeds 13% for the third quarter in a row, and the company says that this would not have been possible without the constant development of cooperation with automakers.
Earlier, the Chinese Linglong also announced the expansion of its partnership with BYD.
