The smart #5 crossover was equipped with Continental tires
Continental was chosen as the tire supplier for the electric smart #5 crossover, which has become the largest vehicle in the brand's lineup to date and is equipped with Continental EcoContact 7 tires in sizes 255/45 R20 and 255/40 R21, approved for speeds up to 240 km/h and bearing the XL marking, indicating increased load capacity.
According to Continental, the homologated tires are distinguished by their high mileage, while the recesses on the surface of the sidewalls improve their aerodynamic qualities and reduce air turbulence behind the tires, reducing energy consumption. Additionally, new materials are used in the sidewalls, carcass, and inner liner, which also increase energy efficiency, and this is also contributed to by the special composition of the rubber compound.

The tires also have a tread pattern designed to improve acoustic comfort, especially in urban traffic, and it is reported that the design has been optimized to reduce noise at frequencies typically encountered at speeds around 50 km/h.
"The combination of exceptional energy efficiency, long service life, and low noise level makes the EcoContact 7 the ideal choice for electric vehicles," notes Continental.
