The end of an era: Formula 1 will no longer use 13-inch tires

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina this weekend will be the last Formula 1 race in history to feature 13-inch tires. After more than half a century of racing on tires of this size, Pirelli will introduce new 18-inch tires in 2022.

In honor of the "changing of the guard", all 13-inch slick tires used in Abu Dhabi will feature a special logo on the sidewall: "Next year I will be 18" - this highlights the transition to 18 inches, the farewell to the current tires, and the welcome to the new size next year.
