The JK Tyre plant in Chennai has started producing India's first tyre, made from 80% eco-friendly materials, which are either recycled or renewable. The new product, called JK Tyre UX Royale Green, has been certified to the ISCC Plus standard, meaning the raw materials were obtained responsibly and are traceable throughout the supply chain.

The JK Tyre Technology Centre has been working on introducing "green" materials into production for over a decade, and the new tyre replaces traditional petroleum-based components with eco-friendly alternatives, such as biopolymers, recycled rubber, and renewable source-based oils.

According to Chairman and Managing Director Raghupati Singania, "the launch of eco-friendly tyre production is an important milestone in the process of adopting 'green' innovations".

"We are pleased to be setting new industry standards and combining high tyre performance with environmental responsibility," he added. "This is an important event that reflects our unwavering commitment to the development of eco-friendly mobility".

In 1995, JK Tyre became the world's first tyre manufacturer to receive a certificate confirming that its quality management system meets the international ISO 9001 standard, and the company emphasizes that with the release of UX Royale Green, they "are strengthening their leading role in the development of India's eco-friendly industry".
