Innovations from Nissan

Nissan has recently introduced a new system called Easy Fill Tire Alert. The principle of its operation is that if the tire pressure becomes insufficient, the system itself notifies the driver about it. Additionally, the "smart" system provides hints to the car owner while inflating the tire: if air is entering the tire, the turn signals will start flashing, and when the inflation is complete, the car will sound a signal. If the air inflation is excessive, the turn signals will flash at an increased frequency, and the car will sound three warning signals.

The idea to create such technology was inspired by a study that showed that tires with a pressure level twenty percent lower than normal significantly increase the risk of accidents on the roads, as well as lead to increased fuel consumption while driving.

The first "swallow" to be equipped with the Easy Fill Tire Alert system was the Nissan Altima. The manufacturer claims that by 2013, it will be included in the standard equipment of all models of the company's cars.

— This is one of those moments when you hit yourself on the forehead and say, why didn't anyone think of this before? If you are warned about low tire pressure, you don't have to wonder if it's serious enough that you need to stop immediately, or if you can drive home or to the nearest gas station, — commented Vishnu Jayamohan, an employee of the company's new product development department, on the innovation.
