Taiwan's Hwa Fong Rubber Group intends to open a factory for the production of tires for bicycles, motorcycles, and golf carts in the USA, said the company's chairman, Shen Gozhong, noting that the strategic decision is related to the new import duties imposed by the administration of Donald Trump.

As noted in Hwa Fong, in recent years, a difficult situation has developed in the international market, which can change quickly, and Trump's tariff policy has had a significant impact on the tire industry. The company believes that having its own factory will help reduce costs, stabilize supply chains, and improve competitiveness in the American market.

According to Shen, Hwa Fong is currently studying the possibility of launching production in two potential locations: Buffalo in the northeastern United States and New Mexico. Both cities have logistical advantages that contribute to the formation of industrial clusters, which, the company hopes, will allow them to reduce production and transportation costs.

Hwa Fong already has factories in Thailand and China, and the company's technological partner is the Japanese Sumitomo Rubber Industries, which will support the project to build a factory in the USA, where it has a strong market presence.

Hwa Fong was founded in 1945 and offers products under the Duro brand. The company's product range includes tires for various types of vehicles, including passenger, commercial, and cargo vehicles, motorcycles, ATVs, bicycles, wheelchairs, forklifts, and more.
