Hankook becomes tire supplier for Cupra Raval

Hankook will supply tires for the factory fitment of the Cupra Raval, an affordable electric hatchback from the Spanish brand owned by Volkswagen. The Raval plays a key role in Cupra's electrification strategy, and Hankook's Hankook iON evo tires—specifically developed for electric vehicles—have been selected for the model. 

The tires for the Raval were developed in close cooperation with the automaker using the iON Innovative Technology platform, which helps reduce noise and rolling resistance while increasing durability—improving characteristics that are particularly important for tires used on electric vehicles. Additionally, the iON evo's construction is designed to handle the high weight and instant torque delivery typical of electric cars, and according to Hankook, enhances high-speed cornering stability thanks to a hybrid breaker structure incorporating aramid fibers. 

The company adds that thanks to the technologies used, cabin noise can be reduced by up to 18%, rolling resistance lowered by 6%, and tread life increased by 15%, made possible in part by preventing abnormal tread wear.

Hankook and Cupra have been collaborating since 2024, when the Hankook iON evo SUV tires were approved for the electric SUV Tavascan. In 2025, the sporty crossover Terramar was equipped with Hankook Ventus evo SUV tires, and the company states its intention to further expand its partnership with the automotive brand.

Hankook also works with other brands within the Volkswagen group; for example, Laufenn tires are supplied as original equipment for the VW Golf and Polo, Skoda Octavia, as well as Seat Ibiza and Arona. In total, the company currently supplies tires for more than 40 models from the German automotive group.
