Hankook presented a limited series of tires for electric vehicles
Hankook Tire launches online sales of the limited-edition Hankook iON evo Formula E Edition tires, specifically designed for electric vehicles and created in collaboration with the Formula E championship, the world's largest electric car racing competition, where the Korean company has been the exclusive tire supplier since the 2022-2023 season.
"The new limited edition is designed to demonstrate to consumers the premium status of Hankook - a global brand that is a leader in the mobility tire sector - and combines innovative technologies developed for Formula E with developments created during the company's participation in other motorsports," the company noted.
The novelty is a version of the Hankook iON evo tire, which is part of the iON line, the first tire family on the market specifically designed for electric vehicles. The tire is available in a size with a rim diameter of 21 inches and is intended for owners of the electric crossover Tesla Model Y, and the iON Innovative Technology has allowed, according to the manufacturer, to improve handling, braking efficiency, acoustic comfort, and ride quality of the tires.
The most notable feature is that the bottom of the grooves is executed in different colors, just like the tires for Formula E, and Hankook says that by purchasing tires in this design, drivers will be able to "feel the emotions of motorsport in everyday life".
Starting from April 21, Hankook will start selling limited-edition tires through the T'Station online store in Korea, and in May, it is planned to offer the novelty to consumers in Germany.
Hankook is currently one of the leaders in the electric vehicle tire market, and the Hankook iON evo tire recently took first place in a specialized test by the magazine Auto Bild, which gave it high scores for aquaplaning resistance, braking properties, handling, economy, and low noise, which, according to the company, "proves its highest technological perfection".
The company also equips many electric vehicle models from leading brands with its tires, including the Porsche Taycan, Cupra Tavascan, Kia EV3 and EV9, Tesla Model 3 and Model Y, as well as the BYD Atto 3, Dolphin, Seagull, Song, and Yuan.
The iON line includes both summer and winter and all-season tires, which are available worldwide and offered in a total of 240 sizes with a diameter from 16 to 22 inches.
