Hankook plans to equip Lamborghini supercars

Hankook Tire announced that on March 7, the company's board chairman Cho Hyun Bum met with the head of Lamborghini Stefan Winkelmann. Cho was invited to the presentation of the new hybrid supercar Temerario in Seoul, and during the meeting, they discussed topics such as strengthening partnership in motorsports, expanding marketing cooperation, and possible supplies of tires for equipping new cars.

It is reported that the head of Hankook detailed the company's technological capabilities to Winkelmann, and before the meeting, he noted in a conversation with journalists that "since we cooperate with the Volkswagen Group, we can also cooperate with Lamborghini [which is part of the VW Group]", adding that "if we want to increase the value of the Hankook brand, we need to supply tires for such supercars as Lamborghini".

Winkelmann visited South Korea for the third time, and the media note that he met with a representative of the Korean tire company's management for the first time. Last year, Lamborghini sold 487 cars in the country, surpassing Bentley, Rolls-Royce and Ferrari. In addition, sales were higher than in the brand's home country, Italy.

Hankook has been supplying exclusive racing tires from the Ventus line for the Lamborghini Super Trofeo monoseries since 2023, and the company says that the data obtained during the competitions is used to develop tires suitable for installation on supercars.

In Hankook, they add that the company "invests in scientific research, expanding its presence in foreign markets and strengthening the brand's position, and at such meetings, both parties are usually interested in expanding the partnership, so it is natural that issues of tire development and further cooperation were discussed".
