Hankook iON: new global tire family for electric vehicles

In May 2022, tire manufacturer Hankook is launching iON, its first tire family specifically developed for electric vehicles. By taking this approach, the company wants to make a crucial contribution in terms of tire selection to the promotion of the transition to zero-emission vehicles.

The features of the new iON tire development include further reduced rolling resistance, significantly lower noise levels, and high elasticity. Compared to conventional tires, this means increased range on a single battery charge and overall more pleasant driving sensations for electric vehicle drivers. Additionally, Hankook's new iON products are specifically designed for the instantly high torque generated by powerful electric vehicles.

Initially, the iON range will be available in three design variants in sizes from 18 to 22 inches: in Europe from May 2022 - the summer tire model Hankook Ventus iON S summer, and from September 2022 for the winter season - Hankook Winter i*cept iON. The Hankook Ventus iON A tire will be available in an all-season version for the North American market. Further specific developments are in preparation.
