Haian to build super large tire plant in Russia
Chinese Haian Rubber Group has announced its intention to build a super-large tire plant in Russia. The cost of the enterprise will be approximately 54 billion rubles, of which 40 billion is planned to be attracted through bank loans, and the company intends to implement the project from 2026 to 2028. At the initial stage, the plant will be able to produce 10,500 tires per year.
The presumed construction site is the Omsk region. If the plans are implemented, Haian will become the first Chinese tire company to localize production in Russia.
Haian says that due to the developed mining industry in Russia, there is a stable demand for super-large tires, and the opening of its own plant will allow the company not only to expand its presence in the local market but also to increase sales in Central Asia and strengthen its global production structure.
“Since super-large tires are a key consumable in the operation of quarry trucks, market demand for them is directly related to the development of the global mining industry,” Haian notes. “Russia has the world's largest mineral resources, approximately 37% of the total volume on the planet. In terms of iron ore, coal, and aluminum reserves, Russia is among the top three in the world, and the country also has one of the largest reserves of such strategic resources as gold and copper, which ensures stable growth in super-large tires. According to industry organizations, there are about 1,615 operating large quarries in the world, and 163 of them are located in Russia, which speaks of the enormous potential of this market.”
The company emphasizes that the project still needs to be approved by the relevant state authorities of China and Russia. In addition, the indicated cost of the plant is a preliminary estimate, and the actual volume of investments may be affected by factors such as market conditions, currency fluctuations, and the course of the plant's construction, etc.
Currently, there is no domestic production of super-large tires in Russia, and the withdrawal from the market of the three main manufacturers of this type of tire - Bridgestone, Goodyear, and Michelin - has opened up new opportunities for Chinese suppliers, such as Haian.
Haian Rubber Group (formerly Fujian Haian Rubber) was founded in 2005, and its headquarters is located in the Putian city district of Fujian Province. The company produces quarry tires with diameters from 25 to 63 inches, which are offered under the Luan brand.
