Goodyear UltraGrip Arctic 2 - Expectation and Reality
This year, Goodyear announced the release of a new product in the studded segment - Goodyear Ultragrip Arctic 2.
The market had been waiting for an update for a long time, as Goodyear had delayed the release of a new model for 10 years, despite the general trend of updating tires every 5 years.
It's worth noting that the Goodyear Ultragrip Ice Arctic tire was quite popular among car owners due to its high performance characteristics. The once entirely new and unconventional tread pattern turned out to be a very successful solution.
The premiere of Goodyear Ultragrip Arctic 2 was quite promising. The manufacturers announced a record increase in performance characteristics and promised to surpass the leaders of the studded segment by tens of percent.
The tires were released, and tests began. Despite their high performance characteristics, especially in snow, the Goodyear Ultragrip Arctic 2 failed to push the leaders Michelin and Nokian from the top spots, and the new product firmly occupied the third place on the podium, competing with Continental.
