Goodyear introduced three new off-road tires
Goodyear announced that it will introduce three new All-Terrain tires to the US and Canadian markets, designed for various driving conditions and a wide range of vehicles, from full-size crossovers and pickup trucks to minivans used as work vehicles, and tuned off-road vehicles, with one model specifically designed for electric vehicles.
The tires are named Goodyear Wrangler Outbound AT, Wrangler Workhorse AT 2, and Wrangler ElectricDrive AT. The first of these is designed for those who use their off-road vehicle and pickup truck both in everyday life and for active outdoor recreation. As the manufacturer notes, it combines increased off-road capability with improved comfort on paved roads. For added strength, the tires have been reinforced with Kevlar, and the new tread pattern and rubber compound have been designed to provide confident handling on dirt and gravel, as well as increased traction on wet surfaces. Wrangler Outbound AT tires are designed for use on vehicles such as the GMC Yukon, Ford F-150, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Toyota 4Runner, with a warranty mileage of up to 105,000 km.
Direct competitors to the new product from Goodyear include the Michelin LTX A/T2 and LTX Trail, as well as the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Ascent and the Continental TerrainContact A/T. The tires will be available in 26 sizes, with diameters ranging from 16 to 22 inches. In all sizes for the secondary market, the Outbound AT will replace the Goodyear Wrangler AT Adventure model, but it will continue to be produced in sizes intended for the primary equipment segment.
The Goodyear Wrangler Workhorse AT 2 was created specifically for vehicles used as "workhorses," as its name suggests. The company notes that the tires combine improved traction on wet roads with an increased tread life (warranty mileage of up to 90,000 km) and have the 3PMSF marking in all sizes, meaning they can be used on snow. The Workhorse AT 2 is designed for vehicles such as the Ford F-Series, Ram ProMaster, and Chevrolet Tahoe, and can be operated in harsh conditions, such as construction sites and dirt roads.
In turn, the Goodyear Wrangler ElectricDrive AT tires were designed for electric off-road vehicles and pickup trucks, such as the Ford F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T, and Rivian R1S, and also have the 3PMSF marking. Additionally, they feature SoundComfort technology (an additional insert in the design reduces noise levels), and the tires are offered with a warranty mileage of up to 80,000 km.
