Goodyear recalls nearly 1400 truck tires

The company Goodyear is conducting a recall of 1,373 Goodyear Metro Miler G652 truck tires in size B305/85 R22.5, manufactured between weeks 40 and 51 of 2024 at the Danville, Virginia, USA plant, due to a defect in the airtight layer in the shoulder area, which may cause a sudden loss of air and create an accident hazard.

According to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall was initiated after one of Goodyear's customers reported that seven tires had lost pressure over several weeks. The production of tires has been suspended, and the company is investigating the cause of the defect. The manufacturer estimates that 25% of the tires in the recalled batch are defective.

Tires that have been sold will be returned to Goodyear, and customers who replaced them before the recall procedure began may be eligible for compensation.
