Goodyear and Lockheed Martin to jointly develop tires for lunar transportation

The Goodyear company will join Lockheed Martin to create a lunar transportation vehicle and will help develop tires for lunar rovers. Together with NASA, the companies plan to be the first to develop a commercial lunar transport for long-term use.

To implement the project, Goodyear will use the experience gained in the production of their airless tire technology for microcars, autonomous shuttles, and passenger vehicles. Currently, this knowledge is being applied in the testing of the concept in lunar soil and will later help in the production of tires that can operate in the most complex lunar conditions.
