Giti has revealed details about its new summer tires, the UHP-class GitiSport S2+, which received an "Exemplary" rating in Auto Bild's major test, meaning they "received one of the highest independent ratings in Europe." As a result of the tests, Giti closed in on the podium, and experts stated that the tires have excellent driving qualities and provide a high level of safety in any weather conditions, as well as an outstanding price-to-quality ratio.

According to Fabio Pecci-Boriani, Deputy General Manager of Giti's research center in Hanover, responsible for planning the range of passenger and light truck tires, receiving an "Exemplary" rating from Auto Bild is "a real sensation."

"We are very pleased that one of the leading European automotive journals highly appreciated our latest development, and we are happy to share this news with our regular customers," he said.

In the qualifying stage of the test, where the braking efficiency of 50 tires with a size of 245/45 R19 was evaluated on dry and wet surfaces, Giti ranked fifth, and in the main part of the test, which included 12 disciplines, the novelty took fourth place, sharing it with the premium Pirelli Cinturato (C3).

According to Pecci-Boriani, the success of the GitiSport S2+ "demonstrates the achievements of our engineers and testers in improving tire traction while maintaining a high level of environmental friendliness and wear resistance, which is important in everyday life."

The new Giti tires are designed specifically for high-performance passenger cars and crossovers, and the company claims that the improved silicone-based rubber compound has reduced braking distances on wet and dry asphalt by 8% and 2%, respectively, compared to the previous generation model, the GitiSport S2. For traction on wet surfaces, the tires received the highest rating of A under the European labeling system in all sizes, while for fuel efficiency and noise, they were rated C/D and B, respectively.

The tread pattern of the new tires (the same as the GitiSport S2) features four wide grooves (five in sizes with a tread width of 265 mm or more) responsible for rapid water dispersion, and sipes that provide additional traction in the rain, while the optimized tread step reduces noise levels.

"The main task during the development of the GitiSport S2+ was to improve dynamic characteristics and handling on wet and dry roads while maintaining the same level of fuel efficiency and energy efficiency as the previous generation tires," Pecci-Boriani said. "The main feature of the novelty is its sporty character, and the rigid construction contributes to good stability when cornering at high speeds, while the increased traction makes the tire's behavior more predictable and stable."

Like all new Giti tires for passenger cars and crossovers/SUVs, the GitiSport S2+ received the AdvanZtech EV Ready marking, indicating that they are designed for both internal combustion engine vehicles and electric vehicles/hybrids. The development was carried out at Giti's research center in Germany, testing was conducted at test sites in the UK and Spain, and the "integrated R&D system" AdvanZtech was used.

The GitiSport S2+ will be released in the spring of 2026. Initially, the novelty will be offered in 19 sizes, from 225/45 R17 to 255/35 R20, and for some time, the previous generation tires (available in sizes from 16 to 22 inches) will also be produced, which should provide a high coverage of the target segment.
