In the 2022 season, Formula 1 will get not only new cars, but also new tires, as the official supplier Pirelli introduces a larger, 18-inch tire for the new season.

Pirelli, which on Friday celebrated its 150th anniversary, stated that teams will still have a limited number of tires for each Grand Prix and therefore will not be able to choose compound tires for the weekend.

In 2019, teams could choose how many sets of tires their drivers would receive during the weekend. For example, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton took one set of hard compounds, four medium and eight soft at the 2019 German Grand Prix, while Sebastian Vettel took one set of hard compounds, three medium and nine soft.
